Bedroom Refresh with Skylark + Owl
Let's talk about sleep, or more importantly - how much I LOVE sleeping! haha When you've got a good mattress, a calm space and high quality bedding, you're pretty much winning in my opinion. Today I want to talk more specifically about bedding. Good bedding is something I only started to appreciate in the more recent years. Up until then I didn't really pay too much attention to where my bedding came from, what it was made of and how it was made. As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate that a good quality set of bedding is an integral part to making my favourite activity AKA sleep (I'm joking but I'm also not joking haha). The right bedding is more comfortable and cozy and it's even better if it looks fabulous and is ethically sourced and produced. Enter, Skylark + Owl.
I was recently introduced to Skylark + Owl Linens, an Edmonton based business who has been making bed linens for over 70 years. Most of that time has been in the hospitality industry (so chances are you've slept on their linens in hotels!) but now they're making a move to focus on bedding for your home. I initially fell in love with them because I loved the design of the Essential Percale Duvet Cover in the Light Grey Frame Pattern, but as I learned, I found even more reasons to love this brand.
I learned that Skylark and Owl cuts and sews their products here in Edmonton (how amazing is that?!). They ensure that their suppliers use eco friendly processes throughout manufacturing and they're certified by Oeko-Tex®, an international association focused on textile safety and sustainable production. This means that there are no harmful chemicals or substances used in the production of these textiles which is so important considering how much time you spend sleeping. Herman and I are all for bedding that's cozy and safe! And obviously, Herman's opinion is VERY important too ;)
I love that I've found bedding that's modern and minimal to go with our design style but also comfortable, ethical and local!! How cool is that?! Other Skylark + Owl faves include their Percale Charcoal Stripe duvet & this cozy Alpaca Fringe throw. Which bedding would you choose?
