It's Not Fall Yet!

We may be nearing the end of August but technically, Summer is still going strong until the first day of fall on Sept 22. So that means we still have almost a month of summer to continue soaking up not to mention a beautiful fall ahead.

So, instead of dreading the impending changing seasons, why not try to make the most of the warm weather we have left (and hey, there's lots more of it to come - hopefully!).

Now that we finally have a fenced backyard (yaaay!) I've been loving my Hammock from the Brick. It's the most comfortable place to lounge and enjoy time outside. Full disclosure - I totally toppled over the first time I tried to get into it (seriously! #embarrassing) but now I'm a hammock-ing pro ;)  Get outdoors and sit on your patio or in the garden, grab a book, a cup of coffee and enjoy! Just because you can't take a full day to make it out to the lake doesn't mean you can't sneak in a few extra moments soaking up the sun here and there throughout the day. It's through these little moments that you can continue to enjoy the warm weather while we have it!

And speaking of warm weather, I've spoken about how James and I don't have air conditioning before and well, September definitely does not mean that our house is going to instantly cool down. Whether I'm cooking in our kitchen, sitting in my office or reading in bed, I take our Dyson Pure Cool Link Tower Fan everywhere I go these days in our house! haha I seriously don't know how we would survive the rest of the warm weather months without our Dyson fan, it's been a lifesaver. Plus, let's be honest, the fact that I can control the timer, power, movement and levels of the fan with a remote is just that much better!

One of my favourite things to do when I have guests over is to test out new drink recipes, whether non alcoholic or not. What can I say, the instagrammer in me always wants a pretty drink to snap a photo of! ;) One of my late summer faves is a simple drink that can be made with alcohol or not depending on your preference.

Using seasonal fruit such as raspberries, blueberries and strawberries, place fresh fruit in the bottom of a glass with a few mint leaves. Pour 1/4 of the glass with lemonade, 1/4 of the glass with orange juice and top with sparkling water and you have a pretty and delicious late summer sip! So simple, right?! If you want to spike the punch, either swap the sparkling water for prosecco or, add in an ounce of gin or vodka for a grown up twist. The mint with the berries is so good, so refreshing and well, looks so pretty on my brass bar cart from the Brick. Also side note - I'm kind of loving the bar cart in my office right now...now just to decide if that's a good idea having the wine so close to my work area or not... ;)

Look, September might be just around the corner but that doesn't mean you have to give up the simple pleasures of how we enjoy the summer warm weather. Get outdoors, make the most of what's left of the warm weather, relax and have fun! What plans do you have to get the most out of the warm weather we've got? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off - if you need me, I'll be in my hammock! ;)
