Abstract Art Love: Rachel Wadlow Art
Hello friends, today I wanted to share some love for an artist whose work I just adore! If you follow along on Instagram, chances are you’ve seen me post a few stories about abstract artist, Rachel Wadlow.
I first discovered Rachel when I was sourcing artwork for a gallery wall design project I was working on. I wanted something that we could personalize that would be special and unique but my struggle was to find pieces that were affordable too. When I came across Rachel’s work I instantly fell in love. I have a particular soft spot for abstract art but what really sold me were her customizable pieces inspired by your own photos.
For my design client we instantly ordered two custom pieces for her gallery wall (which I’ll share in the coming months once we’re able to photograph her project) and they are stunning! So, I was absolutely delighted when Rachel reached out to offer a custom piece for myself to feature. Obviously I said yes immediately and I couldn’t wait to get my own custom piece.
Now I’ve shared before a bit of the struggle to get photos with James (despite being together for 7+ years, we don’t have many great photos together because he HATES having his picture taken!) but fortunately last year Tracey captured some images of James, Herman and I that I love! Plus, as a bonus the colors in the photos all work really well with the colors and decor in my house so I sent a few of these photos over to Rachel and let her work her magic!
As you can see, her interpretation is beautiful and I’m so happy to have a piece that has such meaning to me. I’m personally not the type to display photos of myself or James and I (or anyone really lol) in my home - it’s just not something I’ve ever been much of a fan of. I think growing up with an interior designer mom, hanging family photos on the wall was just not a thing. But, what I love about this piece is that every time I look at it in our living room I smile because I know and I can see James, Herman and I but for anyone else who sees it, they just see a great abstract piece!
So today’s post is really just a thank you to Rachel for my beautiful piece but also a (hopefully helpful) tip for a great artist to consider supporting if you’re in the market for beautiful original art that won’t break the bank.
From a design perspective, great spaces come together in the details and artwork is a huge part of that so finding great sources like Rachel are always helpful in my opinion!
