Poppy Barley Party

A few weeks back 204 Park hosted a fabulous party to celebrate the summer Poppy Barley collection. We invited fab friends and business savvy ladies, enjoyed cocktails crafted with organic ingredients from SPUD, ate yummy ice cream cookie sandwiches, DIY'd and mixed and mingled the afternoon away in Poppy Barley's fab space spruced up with a few DIY decorations and some added flair care of Minted

We invited Paula not only because she's fabulous and we wanted to spend an afternoon together but also so she could snap a few photos of our little get together with her mad photo skills which you might remember from a few of our previous posts such as this one.

Overall the afternoon was a great success. We had a ton of fun mingling with some of our favourite people and the DIY decor and yummy drinks were a major hit. Plus, we had a really fun DIY that you can try for yourself; I'll be sharing that on the blog coming soon!

One of the best parts of this event was being able to connect with so many of edmonton's amazing ladies (and gentlemen). We're really lucky to have so many supportive people who all help one another and support each other, it's truly amazing. My girl Kristina wrote a little post about it here too (thanks girl!). So check out some pics below as well as the two decor DIYs I made for the little soiree!

There were two party decor DIYs I created for this party, both of which are totally do-able even if you're a novice DIY'er. The first was the floral chandelier….

I'll start by noting that it drove me totally crazy that two of the flowers were a little lower than the others and also that I'd have preferred this DIY with clear fishing line rather than a thicker string but with time at a premium before the event, I made do with what we had and I'm still really pleased with how it turned out!

To create the DIY I used an embroidery hoop that I painted pink, string to hold the flowers and the flowers themselves. All you need to do for this DIY is tie knots around the stem of each of your flowers and then tie the string to the hoop. I used a mix of pink and white flowers but you can use any type or colour you like!

The next DIY was the balloon arch for the "photo station"- check out some of our guest's party pictures HERE. I wish I could take credit for this idea but I was inspired by this photo on the talented Justine Ma's IG page. I messaged her for the how to and she told me her and Christine of Just Bella made this arch easily using cardboard as the base, taped it to the wall then went to town taping and layering balloons, so I did just that! I used two pieces of poster board from the dollar store and taped them together, traced out an arch (that kind of looked like a banana), cut it out and taped it to the wall.  Sarah and I then went tape crazy and used packing tape to stick and layer varying sizes of blue, white and silver balloons (Poppy Barley's collection colors) until we were happy with the look!

Although Sarah is no long blogging here at 204 Park, I told her I'd be more than happy to share a few photos Paula took of her before the event so she could show off her shoesies. Plus, how perfect does that top match her shoes?! Lookin' good Sarah!! XO

We had a blast mingling with our guests and the stocked bar with organic and local produce from SPUD was the icing on the cake! Amazing organic watermelon, cucumbers, lemons and limes, mangoes and herbs made for some pretty tasty cocktails!  (PS, try SPUD for yourself and get $20 in FREE groceries with referral code CREDM-TIDDIA)!

How cute is this party decor? The table runner, straws and banners  from Minted in the "Poppy Barley blue" were the perfect added decor!

Make sure to come next week when I share the fun DIY our guests made as we mixed and mingled the afternoon away!
